Meninggalnya Prince pada 21 April 2016 di kediamannya, Paisley Park di Chanhassen, Minnesota, Amerika Serikat memang mengejutkan banyak orang. Banyak yang kehilangan dengan sosok musikus bertalenta ini. Tidak heran bila banyak yang berduka atas kematiannya. Termasuk Presiden Obama.
 
Berdasarkan data yang femina peroleh dari PR agency Facebook Indonesia, Weber Shandwick Indonesia, dalam waktu lima jam terdapat 25 juta pengguna Facebook yang menghasilkan sebanyak 61 juta interaksi terkait dengan berita duka atas meninggalnya pelantun The Most Beautiful Girl in The World tersebut.
